Competition Inforation

Under the Stableford scoring system the player gains points according to the number of strokes taken on each hole in relation to par.

Standard scoring is 1 point for a bogey, 2 points for a par, 3 points for a birdie, 4 points for an eagle.
The points achieved for each hole of the round or tournament are added to produce the total points score, and the player with the highest score wins.

The score card will indicate the number of shots a player gets on each hole in relation to their daily handicap.

In stroke play, the score is derived by counting the total number of strokes taken.

Your handicap is then subtracted to get your final score.

Foursomes, or alternate shot, is a pairs format.

Each pair has only one ball in play and players alternate playing strokes until the hole is completed.

Foursomes can be played as match play or stroke play.

Four-ball (also known as better-ball, and sometimes best-ball) is a pairs format.

Each player plays their own ball, with the better of the two scores on each hole counting as the pair's score.

Four-ball can be played as match play or stroke play.

This is where a team (usually 2 or 4 players) each play their own ball,
the team then selects a ball they wish to play for their next shot and all players play from that spot.

This process continues until the hole is completed.

Our Vets Play for a Monthly Medal and the Members on Saturday a Monthly Mug, usually held on the first Thursday and Saturday of the month.

Each one is awarded to the player on the day with the best net score in a stroke event.

In both competitions all players are required to count the number of putts they have. The lowest number of putts on the day is awarded a prize (usually in golf balls).

At the end of the year a prize is awarded to the best putter (both Vets and Members) taking into account their best 6 putting scores during the year.
